Some of you might have seen QoderWork mentioned in release notes or on the Qoder website. Today I want to give a proper introduction to what it actually is and what you can do with it.
What is QoderWork?
QoderWork is a desktop AI assistant from the Qoder team. It’s separate from the Qoder IDE. Where Qoder helps you write code, QoderWork helps you with everything else on your computer: organizing files, analyzing data, creating documents, doing research, automating repetitive tasks.
The key difference from a typical chatbot: QoderWork delivers actual files, not text responses. Ask it to create a report and you get a .docx. Ask it to analyze a spreadsheet and you get a formatted .xlsx with charts. Ask it to build a presentation and you get a .pptx.
It runs locally on your machine. Your files stay on your computer.
Core Capabilities
File operations. QoderWork can organize, rename, move, and sort files on your machine. One user cleaned up 2,000+ files by date and type in a single pass. Another freed 84GB of disk space by identifying and clearing caches, old snapshots, and duplicate files.
Data analysis. Drop a CSV or Excel file in and describe what you want to know. QoderWork handles the analysis and outputs a formatted report. Supports pivot tables, charts, multi-dimensional breakdowns, and can even output in different languages.
Document creation. It generates Word docs, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint decks, PDFs, and HTML reports. The output is ready to use, not a rough draft you need to reformat.
Web research. QoderWork can browse the web, collect information from multiple sources, and compile findings into a structured document or slide deck.
Automation with Skills. If you find yourself repeating a task, you can save it as a reusable Skill. One platform admin turned their deployment process from a 30-minute checklist into a 3-minute automated run.
